From April 2016, a brand new version of the iconic Canbio range of fully digital toggle machines will be available. Building on the success of the out-going e-Canbio model, the Canbio ST is a major evolution, having both a new hydraulic system and machine controller.
The Canbio ST (Servo Tactus) will as standard feature the latest GH4 series pumps from Bosch Rexroth, these having been specifically developed for servo motor applications. Pumps are complemented with class leading Baumuller three phase synchronous motors, these being of similar design to servo motors currently used in industrial robots.
The machine is fitted with the latest ‘Tactus’ series touch screen B&R based controller, which will be eventually ‘rolled out’ across the complete product range. This has a familiar layout to that of previous Columbia controller fitted to the out-going e-Canbio machine, but uses a ‘single touch’ interface that is both easy to navigate and can be operated with a gloved hand.
Communication rates are also improved by a factor of four, thanks to the new ‘Powerlink’ Ethernet based communication system that replaces the older Canbus technology.
All of these new developments will further improve on the already excellent levels of energy efficiency and accuracy demonstrated by the previous e-Canbio range.
Canbio ST models also benefit from the recently introduced ‘bushless’ platen system, this utilising the latest prismatic linear bearing systems, that minimise lubrication whilst offering improved opening and closing speeds, as well as enhanced mould protection.
Negri Bossi UK General Manager Alan Dodds commented, “We believe that Negri Bossi machines are the ‘technician’s choice’, so we always listen to any comments that will help in the long term development of our models. This is particularly well demonstrated in the case of the new Tactus touch screen system, a good example of waiting for the technology to get to a point that is compatible with the ‘real world’ environment of a busy mould shop”.
Negri Bossi UK will soon be opening the doors of its new Rugby based facility for the inaugural Open House at this venue. The highlight of the two day event will be the official launch of the Canbio ST range, a 250 tonne model being on demonstration. Dates will be announced shortly.
