Negri Bossi exhibits All Electric LSR machine at Plastpol 2017

The 21st International Fair of Plastics and Rubber Processing PLASTPOL, is being held at the Targi Kielce Exhibition & Conference Centre from the 23rd – 26th of May. It is now one of the most significant events for Europe’s plastics processing and rubber manufacturing sector.

Negri Bossi, through their agent NTQ, will be showing two very exciting machine applications on booth E64 occupying a 250m² floor area.

An all-electric 180 ton machine from the new ele series will be running a unique foam microcellular molding process, producing a complete ping pong bat.

The 180-630 machine is injecting the body in a PBT material from the main 45mm plasticising unit, while a vertical electric injection unit will be feeding a soft TPE handle. One of the bat faces will be molded in a foamed LSR (Liquid Silicone Rubber) to produce the ‘spongier’ side of the bat. The firmer face will be in a standard LSR material. The LSR materials are injected directly into the mold from a dosing unit system equipped with a special process for producing the foam microcellular molding material. The moldings will be handled by a 6 axis Robot supplied by Negri Bossi Group company, Sytrama. The mold is manufactured by Esistampi s.r.l.

The second Negri Bossi machine is a 250 ton Canbio st servo hydraulic model, molding a four-cavity 300cc polystyrene drinking glass. The machine is equipped with two 3-Axis Sytrama robots. The mold is manufactured by New Tresing Stampi s.r.l. A model S9 will remove the moldings from the machine. A second S10 model will take the glasses from the S9 and fill them with juice to demonstrate the accuracy and stability of the robots.

Negri Bossi – A remarkable 70 Years

In 1947, exactly 70 years ago, Negri Bossi started its long life in the injection moulding machine market. M. Pietro Negri from Oggiono (COMO) and M.Walter Bossi from Besozzo (VARESE), with the assistance of accountant Marco Giani from Cremona, formed the Negri Bossi company.

The three men had previously worked together from 1943 to 1947 in COGEMA (General Company of machines and equipment for plastic material founded by Giani) where the first injection moulding machine was produced. In 1947, in the newborn NB company, M.Bossi was the technical designer, M.Negri with mechanical engineering qualifications, was in charge of production and M.Giani provided commercial support.

There were approximately 10 employees in the first headquarters in Corso Magenta 44 in Milan. Later in the same year, there was a move to a bigger facility in Via Bazzini as the company experienced rapid growth.

The first machine produced was a NB 28 which had a 15 tonnne hydraulic clamping unit with 2 tie bars. The mouldings produced were buttons in a polystirol material with a weight of 28 grammes. The customer was from Bergamo and the machine was sold for 450.000 lire (232 euro). It was interesting that the pump used was a Vickers, found in ARAL camps left by the Americans after the War. It was the first machine produced in Italy and unique in the market! During these periods, there was limited manufacturers of hydraulic equipment in Italy, so Negri Bossi produced a lot of their own actuators.

Around 1948 M.Bossi started to work with M.Gianni Bodini, who in 1958, became the Technical Director and the manager of design and projects. In 1964 Negri Bossi moved permanently to its present location, Cologno Monzese (Milan).

During this period Negri Bossi acquired many worldwide patents with their designs, and machines with clamping units from 15 to 1200 tons, were produced. Thanks to a large growth in 1960, Negri Bossi opened a new warehouse in Pero (Milan).

M.Negri passed away in 1970 and M.Bossi remained with the company until he retired in 1979.

Over their 70 years Negri Bossi has undergone different acquisitions but it always maintained the founders’ vision. The company has always developed machines that contributed to the history of the injection moulding machine market, whilst always anticipating technological trends.

Thanks to all who have given longevity and greatness to this illustrious brand. Today Negri Bossi is the largest Italian injection moulding machine manufacturer and a leader in the world market.

Negri Bossi at Plastivision 2017 – Dynamism in India

Plastivision 2017 – the main South-East Asian event dedicated to the plastics processing industry, took place from 19^th to 22^th January in Mumbai.

This was a not-to-be-missed opportunity for Negri Bossi, specializing in the design and production of injection moulding machines for plastics processing.

In a booth covering 150 m², Negri Bossi exhibited the top of its range, starting with the EOS ST, a first showing to this market. The EOS ST is a two-platen digital hydraulic machine with servo technology, which guarantees space saving, high energy-saving, no lubrication and easy maintenance. This model, produced in a range from 70 to 160 tons, is perfect for pharmaceutical, food and biomedical industry applications where product integrity is a production must. The machine has a New TACTUS™ Touchscreen SPS with Powerlink, user-friendly interface, with a full range of control parameters and a highly efficient servo-motor driven gear pump system.

Visitors also saw a Canbio hydraulic machine, “Made in India”. Through a completely digital control the Canbio series machines provide high moulding accuracy and improved repeatability of the moulded parts. Canbio is versatile and reliable and thanks to the design of the new hydraulic system, capital investment and running costs are kept to the minimum.

Negri Bossi is strengthening its presence in India with its branch NEGRI BOSSI INDIA PVT LTD located in Ahmedabad. This investment reinforces Negri Bossi’s commitment to the Indian market. On a global scale India is a hugely dynamic market, showing significant growth in the number of machines sourced for plastic processing.

Full Electric Maintains Negri Bossi Traditions

Negri Bossi’s new series made its debut in October at K2016, the largest European event of the plastics industry.

Presently available in models from 50 to 350 tonnes, this range will be extended over the following months to a line of nine models up to 650 tonnes with configurable injection units. Multi-colour options will also be available.

“The product is targeted at markets which require the performance that an all-electric gives and as such the specifications reflect this. The product features a new multi-touch controller Tactum with features such as swipe and scroll. The machine is equipped with a new” smart flex 2″ locking unit with a different toggle geometry designed to be coupled specifically with electric closing and to have characteristics optimised to its target market.” announced Mr Craig Ward, CEO Negri Bossi SpA.

Key target markets include medical and packaging and the 180 tonne machine on demonstration at the K Show, was running a four impression IML lid in under 3 seconds. It incorporated a side entry robot and labelling system by our sister company, Sytrama.

In keeping with Negri Bossi’s tradition, the machines have been designed for reliability, longevity and performance. Automatic recirculation lubrication and linear runners with self-lubricating bearings on the moving platen ensure cleanliness of the die area, making them perfect for cleanroom environments.

NEGRI BOSSI AT INTERPLASTICA 2017

For the first European event of 2017, Negri Bossi were present at Interplastica, which was held in Moscow from the 24^th to the 27^th of January.

Negri Bossi’s annual attendance at this event is testament to its continued commitment and support to the Russian injection moulding market.

On Stand C29, Hall 21, Negri Bossi were exhibiting their new generation Canbio ST model in 180 ton version with 850 Euromap injection and the new Tactus user friendly touchscreen controller. During the event, a vintage style small bag was made in Polipropilenyc material, with a 75 g weight and 25 sec.cycle time. The Canbio ST range represents a perfect balance between performance, flexibility, precision and low energy consumption.

Showcasing this machine in 2017, marks the 70^th anniversary year of Negri Bossi’s foundation.

One amazing coincidence is that this is the first Canbio ST series delivered in Negri Bossi’s 70^th anniversary year and the customer who purchased it, is the same customer who last year bought the 5000^th Canbio, special edition, also shown at that year’s Interplastica Exhibition.
